Project Done!
I really enjoyed working on this game and put more time in than necessary. The original assignment was to make three significant changes and I probably did 2 or 3 times that. Part of it is that I love the genre of 2d shooters. I played a lot of Life Force, Gradius, R-Type and especially UN Squadron. For some reason that game always got to me.
But it's also a good example of feature creep and having a vision. I started a week ago with a vision to make the graphics better and then had an idea for objectives. That should be easy right? Well the first level was pretty easy. Then I started coding the second level and realized if I added an Allied space ship I'd need every enemy to change it's behavior. When do they target the SpaceTanker or the Player? And how am I going to make the Space Tanker go on a specific route. And it should have weapons too!
So I spent some time just procrastinating. Honestly I thought of just implementing Level 1 over again. But I started coding a little at a time and then created the SpaceTanker.
It was actually really emotional yesterday coding up the very end of the game. Not that it is original or that amazing of a game but it is nice to be creative. I love writing code and this project gave me a chance to write fun code. I hope everyone enjoys playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
